Heirloom Korerima (Ethiopian Cardamom)

$14.00

Single-origin, heirloom-variety korerima seeds, sustainably farmed without pesticides on small family farms in Ethiopia. Korerima (also known as Ethiopian Black Cardamom or Grains of Paradise) has an assertive and pungent flavor, with a hint of smoke and licorice, and a mild astringency that catches in the back of your throat. A hallmark ingredient in Ethiopian cooking. 1/2-cup sized jar.

Korerima adds a subtle and compelling flavor to stews and other dishes where a slow simmer allows it to release its sultry flavor over time. It’s a must-have ingredient for many classic Ethiopian dishes such as Gomen. You can also lightly crush the seeds and sprinkle them over cheeses, vegetables, grilled meats, fruits or desserts.

We are thrilled to bring you this korerima from our partners at Brundo, an Ethiopian women-owned business working directly with the farmers in and around Modjo, Ethiopia. Brundo gives a portion of their profits to support Black entrepreneurship here in the US.

This korerima is an heirloom variety, sustainably grown without pesticides. It’s grown, harvested and open-fire roasted on small family farms in Modjo.
