Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
Lynley Jones
Hey there! We are counting down 101 ways you can use our Mexican Sweet Blend in your cooking.
Idea #1: Make Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
Here’s what you do:
Combine 1/4 cup cocoa powder with 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 quarter cup Mexican Sweet Blend and 1/8 teaspoon coarse salt in a medium saucepan. Whisk in about 1/3 cup cold water and bring to a bare simmer for about a minute. Whisk in a quart of milk, partially cover and heat until steaming. (Stir it occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.)
More options:
We like to serve this with whipped cream on top, and sprinkle a little extra Mexican Sweet Blend on top!
You could use all Mexican Sweet Blend instead of the white sugar
This would be amazing with a little hot chile! You could either stir in a sprinkle of something like cayenne pepper or Aleppo pepper, or you could drop a guajillo or ancho chile in along with the milk.

More About This Blend:
Mexican Sweet Blend is our own original blend of sweet Mexican flavors: piloncillo (Mexican brown sugar) and canela (Mexican cinnamon). Bake with it, sprinkle it over fruit, stir it into coffee or hot chocolate, or combine it with savory spices for a barbecue rub. Locally made by us in small batches.
