Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

101 Ways to Use Mexican Sweet Blend

Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

Lynley Jones

Hey there! We are counting down 101 ways you can use our Mexican Sweet Blend in your cooking.

Idea #1: Make Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

Here’s what you do:

Hot chocolate made in the Adventure Kitchen with Mexican Sweet Blend sprinkled on the whipped cream. In the picture, you can see Mexican piloncillo sugar and Ceylon cinnamon, which are the ingredients we use to make Mexican Sweet Blend.

Combine 1/4 cup cocoa powder with 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 quarter cup Mexican Sweet Blend and 1/8 teaspoon coarse salt in a medium saucepan. Whisk in about 1/3 cup cold water and bring to a bare simmer for about a minute. Whisk in a quart of milk, partially cover and heat until steaming. (Stir it occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.)

More options:

  • We like to serve this with whipped cream on top, and sprinkle a little extra Mexican Sweet Blend on top!

  • You could use all Mexican Sweet Blend instead of the white sugar

  • This would be amazing with a little hot chile! You could either stir in a sprinkle of something like cayenne pepper or Aleppo pepper, or you could drop a guajillo or ancho chile in along with the milk.
