The community is invited to attend the champagne celebration book launch and signing party on Saturday, 11/17 at 2:00pm at the Adventure Kitchen Holiday Shop within the Artisans Gallery Pop Up at the historic Hampton House building at 467 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair.
Champagne, sparkling apple cider, cupcakes and hors d’oeuvres will be served free of charge (while supplies last). Cooks and food lovers of all ages are welcome. Author Lynley Jones will be on hand to sign books and visit with attendees.
Written and photographed by Adventure Kitchen founder Lynley Jones, Thanksgiving Roadmap is a Thanksgiving cookbook with a step-by-step timeline, shopping lists, full-color pictures of every recipe, Thanksgiving Toolkit pictures, and bonus recipes, including extra sides and recipes to cook with your leftovers. The book also includes a section called Turkey Truth, which separates fact from fiction on all things turkey, and detailed how-tos for brining, defrosting, and more.
“Thanksgiving cooking is different from everyday cooking,” said Jones. “Feeding a crowd and having everything ready at the same time can be complicated. Plus, we make dishes for Thanksgiving that we don’t make the rest of the year. On top of that, we want everything to be extra special. So this book was written to help everybody – experienced cooks and newer cooks – do their best cooking for this challenging meal.”
The book includes a recipe for Fastest Roast Turkey, an alternative method that can cut roasting time to about an hour. Other notable recipes include Aleppo-Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts, Bourbon-Spiked Cranberry Sauce and Apple Galette with Brown Butter Thyme Sauce.
The book also includes recipes for more traditional Thanksgiving dishes like Classic Roast Turkey, White Wine Turkey Gravy, Buttery Herbed Bread Stuffing, Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Deep-Dish Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream. As Jones writes in the book, “At Thanksgiving, most people want familiar comfort foods, so the classic Thanksgiving recipes I’ve included are full of flavor, but also packed with tradition.”
Thanksgiving Roadmap was designed by Eric Felisbret at ericfcreative.com; cover design was by Isabella Conenna.
“Adventure Kitchen is becoming a real destination for curious cooks to have all kinds of adventures with food,” said Jones. “Curious cooks want to explore the world around them, and great books are one way to do that.”
The hardcover book is available for sale online at adventurekitchen.com, and at two locations in Montclair, NJ: The Adventure Kitchen Holiday Shop within the Artisans Gallery Pop Up at 467 Bloomfield Ave.; and Watchung Booksellers at 54 Fairfield Street in Watchung Plaza. The hardcover book sells for $30 and includes an e-book version at no extra charge, so people can follow the recipes directly from their e-reader or other device in their kitchens. Alternatively, people can buy the e-book only version for $20 online.
